Restoration and Colorizing

This week is dedicated to completing...

-Restoration: complete the piece and turn in the single and the before and after pair as jpegs into the N drive. Print a copy of the pair in color and turn in with your name on the back of the print out.

-Colorizing: this is a tutorial for the tutorial tab on the blog. Either an old photo or a modern picture can be used. A color picture will need to be changed to black and white for this process to work. Colorizing can be selective, keeping some of the black and white in the photo. This will be turned in as a JPEG and printed in color with you name on the back.

-tutorials: Vintage Tutorial and Retro Tutorial. Place as a PSD into the turn in folder.

-Portraits!!!!! This is a great time to use the "photo-booth" to start taking your pictures for this assignment. This is also a great time to research and get organized so you can take some great pictures. The "photo-booth" can also be used during ie today and tomorrow. Passes will be needed for you and your model(s) for Monday. Contact sheets and a plan are due by Next Monday. I will have a Portrait Plan for you to complete this week.

Portraiture!

There are only two styles of portrait painting; the serious
and the smirk.
Charles Dickens

Self Portrait:   a representation of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist.

Portraiture:  the creation of any portrait, an artistic representation of a person

Some images done prior: Portraiture Power Point!

And who doesn't love power points!

Now... some that we can also begin to work with...

LEVITATION!

This is how it will be done!!

This is how it can look....

How can we make this better?!

Goals with this project:

24 images to work with... multiple shots, variety in images... what can we work with, how do we
want the composition to look?  what are we trying to define of ourselves or the person?

Are you creating a series?
DO you plan to create a complex composite portrait in the tradition of Brooke Shaden or Martin de Pasquale?
List what would make this GREAT!!
What do I need to have images of?
Where do I need to go for your location?
What will it take to make this happen?

Are you working in any levitation: TRIPOD IS A MUST.

Some photographers...

Brooke Shaden-we saw her at DC Everest

Lara Jade - she has become more commercial unfortunately.. her beginning stuff was awesome!

Continuing Restoration...

We are going to learn how to fill missing parts of photograph. Once these pieces are filled then you can continue to use the healing tools to complete the photograph reconstruction. Save the finish restoration into your H drive. We will be using this completed picture later.

You should be scanning your photos from home today. They can also be scanned and placed in this folder tonight. Recommend having 2 more photos to work with.

The Fine Art Trios are graded.  There are many people with F's due to not turning them in. Please get this done ASAP.
