Friday

We are ending the 5th week of school.  I am grading the Walking Videos, scripts and evaluations this weekend.  Everyone needs to be exporting and turning in your work before progress reports are printed for your parents.

If you are done with your Walking video, these are the things you should be doing during class:

-Horror/Action/Comedy script-this should be written before you film or it is like writing a rough draft of a paper after you write the final.  Remember to share this with me.
-Create a production company logo (this is your first exercise) to use in your films
-Filming shots for new video
-Finding music or sound effects
-Creating foley effects
-Exercises  (2 or more)
-this is what I expect you to do if you are not productively filming, working on sound or editing
-if you are not working, I will be starting to give work progress grades as needed
-these are short "film shorts" that give you more experience working with Premiere and After Effects
-take you time and listen.  If you do not understand something, google for an answer.  You'll get.

Wednesday

Push day!

It is time to start wrapping up your Walking video.  It must include the following items:

Title
2 minutes of Edited Video (use some fades)
Use of picture in picture and color correction.
Music
Foley Effects
Room Tone

Update the script through Google Docs.

Start planning the script for Comedy/Horror/Action...this is a great opportunity to film over the weekend.  You choose your actors, your location and the subject matter.  Keep it appropriate.  Remember the contract that you agreed to.

Exercise Tutorials...mini videos that explore a special effect of your choice. You are looking for an interesting production logo effect.  Here are some key words for searching:

-premiere pro tutorial production logo
-After Effects  (give it a try!)

We will go over exporting your video today!  Exporting can take most of the hour or longer, so it must be started at the beginning of class.  Be sure that everything is rendered, and ready to go.
There is a review tutorial to help you out if you do this next week.

Walking...
-Start organizing your personal script.  To do this, make a copy of the group script, and start to edit it.  Please be sure to share this script with me with editing rights.
-Finish up shooting footage for Walking.
-Have you created a folder in your student storage drive (D or E drive)?  Get it done.  You will need it for storing your footage.
-Work on loading footage into the D drive using Image Mixer.  Come get me so I can show you how to use Image Mixer.  It's a must for glitch free footage.

Tomorrow we will be looking into Premiere.

Retest on Friday...any questions?  Use the blog to study!  The links are there to illustrate the vocabulary.

Image-Mixer:
Preferences: lets set this up.
This needs to be double-checked EVERY time!

This is a bit at first but it will become second nature as we continue to create... and we will review this A LOT...

DO NOT OVERLOOK the step to uploading video into the Student Storage drive (most of them are call the D-drive.  Craig is special and his Drive is the E-Drive)!!!  I will make you do it over if you forget and have it going elsewhere!

Lets set Both to the D- Drive and make sure you save your video to the correct folder also.

Once you have footage, you can copy the shared script, and start working on your personal script.  It will help you figure out what shots you need in what order.

Keep on filming.  Great start yesterday.
Some notes:
-Stay near by-this hall, Fibers or the stairwell
-Have a plan.
-Practice slow smooth movements for zooming, tilting and panning.

Monday!!!

-The test will take place on Tuesday!!!  Yay! Ask questions, and use the blog to help you study.

How to write a script...
-Open Gmail
-People along the middle aisle, I have shared the Walking script with you.  Please make a copy of this script and share it with me and your film crew.  Everyone should be given editing rights (for today, at least)
-Everyone with sharing rights can now write on this script.
-Use the assignment guidelines I gave you on Friday to start laying out the scenes your group would like to film.  You will need 40 -3 to 5 second shots.  Everyone can type on the same page at the same time or gather around one writer.  Your choice.
-Use camera and shot abbreviations in your script.  Your assignment has some examples of what your scene descriptions should look like.
-This group script will be used to help the crew get the needed shots. Once the shots are completed, everyone will reorganize the script to their specifications.
